CALM Buoy Terminal
Monobuoy specializes in designing, building and installing CALM Buoy Terminals.
A CALM Buoy Terminal is a facility used for the loading and offloading of crude oil and other products from tankers and it typically consists of the following components:
CALM Buoy: A CALM (Catenary Anchor Leg Mooring) buoy is a floating system that is anchored to the seabed and used to moor the tanker during the loading and offloading of crude oil and other products.
Hoses: Flexible hoses are used to transfer the product from the CALM buoy to the tanker or vice versa.
Chains and Piles: Chains and piles are used to secure the CALM buoy to the seabed.
PLEM: A Pipeline End Manifold (PLEM) is a subsea structure that connects the hoses from the CALM buoy to the pipeline on the seabed, which transports the crude oil and other products to shore or vice versa.

FSOs & FPSOs
Monobuoy expanded beyond buoys and designed a new-build Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) for Vietnamese Shipbuilding Industry, Vinashin in 2008.

Swivels
The swivel stack is a crucial component in the design of CALM buoys, FSOs or FPSOs, as it transfers fluids, electricity and fibre optics between the fixed geostationary part and the rotating weathervaning part of the system. Swivel stacks can vary in complexity, and at Monobuoy, we design and build our own swivel stacks using proprietary fluid, electrical and fibre optic swivel elements. Our designs have included crude oil, gas, pneumatic and high-pressure toroidal hydraulic swivels for various applications.
Used Buoys
